Everything about today's blog was beautiful. I love the look of the store and the beautiful art work on the cans. The store is magical - almost circus like. Don't worry about spending 40 Euros on four lunches for two. Is sounds like a bargain to me and you get souvenirs to boot!
Thanks for sharing- I first became aware of this concept of canned fish (being more than canned tuna in US) while watching a Rick Steves Monday Night Travel episode. I’m not sure I’m ready for canned eels, but what the heck, I’ll try anything once. 😁
If Denise likes sardines, wait until the end of June when the sardine season starts and then try them grilled in charcoal! That is for me, being Portuguese, the best fish in the world.
You have to debone them with knife and fork.
Go to a restaurant where they grill them on the sidewalk. That’s the only way you will know that they are really grilled on charcoal.
Canned fish....not for me. I hope you enjoy those canned varieties. At least they look very appealing.
Maria, everyone has told us that June is the time for sardines. We were in a local restaurant and asked if they had them. Our realtor interrupted and asked if they were frozen. The waiter sheepishly admitted they were. Denise ordered something else.
Frozen don’t taste the same. From mid June until September, and the later, the bigger. Grilled on charcoal by the sidewalk. And fortunately they are a cheap meal. Portuguese sardines are the best in the world. It is because of the water.

Caption: There's something fishy about these women.
Thank you Caroline...you were the only one who played along. Your caption is great!
Russ loves sardines so we’ll need to plan our visit during sardine season!
Okay..but of course, you are welcome at anytime
Glad to see that your are getting out and doing so much exploring your new area! Your pictures have been amazing!
Thanks! Though I admit I still need to take a iPhone photography class.
