Thank you for sharing the carrot and olive recipes. Also love your paintings! I too paint and draw. I'm still getting settled here in Sao Martinho do Porto, but I am eager to start painting again.

Your life is filled with beauty and grace and good friends and great food, exploration and excitement. Many would not call that simple. ☺️ I’m glad for you that it feels that way because it tells us all a lot more about who you are. It’s my pleasure to know you and be a tiny part of all that. 🤗. And we still haven’t tried our hand at Algarvian carrots! Thanks for the reminder.

Nancy, I'm totally lusting for the life you are leading. And don't you dare try to paint an exact likeness.

Your style reminds me of artist Peter Keil even though your art is more refined.

Our days are speeding toward 2024 with a little nervousness paired with anticipation. Hubby will retire in the spring and we will ready our home for selling. Then it's off into the wild, blue yonder in search of our magical place where we can watch the sunset, make new friends, drink a lot of wine and walk it off.

There are so many places now off the bucket list to visit as the world is topsy-turvy. I certainly don't expect utopia but seek a simpler life and new experiences.

Your post-moving-in-to-your-finally-finished-home posts are so filled with expressions and appreciation of your good life! How wonderful for you and Denise. As it gets ready to bottom out at 16°F, I will start the Algarve carrot experiment. Muy obrigada!

I really like your work, also! I love working in a sketchbook with pen and watercolors. We have a sketching group in Setúbal. I’ll be there next month to start our Portugal adventures.

I love your weekly posts about living a life in full in the Eastern Algarve. This week’s contribution particularly resonated with me, as I too long to discover a collective art space locally where I can learn, explore and express myself in the company and energy of others artists.

I particularly liked your question regarding what it will be that you learn from your art classes experience. I imeadeatly wondered instead- what is it your fellow painters and art teacher will learn from you?

“Ahh, bonito?”

I've seen some of your paintings and they are beautiful. The process you used for the glass painting fascinated me. Years later I met a guy who paints remote control racing cars and he used the same process. They paid the inside of a clear shell so contact during races doesn't scratch the paint. Sounds like you two have a great holiday planned.

Nice paintings. My newest paixâo is lavender farming. Last fall we put in about 1,400 plants and had a decent first year harvest. My wife took up ceramics and has a pottery wheel and kiln. Last weekend we did quite well selling her ceramics and lavender products (sachets, dried flower bundles, bath salts, eye covers) at the Christmas market at the Igreja da Praia da Luz. We're looking forward to next summer's harvest when the yield should at least double. Hopefully your Christmas cruise will take you through Salzburg, Austria. We spent Christmas 2017 there and it is, so far, the best Christmas market out of the 5 we have been to in Europe. Also not to miss there is the Sound of Music tour. Nothing like riding back from the tour with everyone on the bus singing songs from the movie.

After all my years in Portugal I knew nothing about Algarvian carrots - they do sound tasty. I must have a word with my restaurant amiga about them as they could be good as the nibbles.
