On Monday I posted my 200th post. Well to be 100% accurate, I posted it on Friday by mistake and then again on Monday. Sorry to clutter your inbox. But today let me summarize the results.
Thanks
First, let me thank the 35% that took the time to click the survey link and respond. I did some research and found that the average survey response rate is 33%, actually 30% for an email survey. So I guess we did a bit better than average.
What You Like
While many of you said you liked pretty much everything (all those tiny slices on the right side), there were some clear winners. It seems you are most interested in learning about Portuguese culture and living in Portugal (40.2%); you don’t mind my commentary and observations (21.3%) and you enjoy traveling with us from time to time (14.8%). I was also pleased and excited to see that nearly everyone wants to follow our renovation journey. So I will begin writing about the process in the coming weeks. Hopefully, not too many of the posts will report … “absolutely nothing happened, stay tuned!”
I will admit that I was a bit disappointed by the response to my request for topic suggestions. I received very few … sorry I don’t fish and I kill any plant I look at. It would appear that you have the same difficulty as I do. But, of course, it isn’t your job to come up with topics for me. However, if you do, please drop me a note.
I did get a few requests for topics I have already covered. So I have developed a handy-dandy spreadsheet that lists nearly every post by topic. Sunday posts, ones that were time-sensitive (such as Covid updates), etc were not included. If you are a newer reader and want to see the list, click here. If you click on the title, it will take you directly to the post. And, I have stored it as a Google sheet so anyone should be able to see it. (If you can’t please let me know!)
Frequency
Several people commented that I should eliminate the “short posts” or “teaser posts” on Sunday. So be it. This is your official notification of a change in my publishing schedule. Effective this week, I will begin publishing on Tuesday and Friday only. At the end of the Friday post, you will find “coming attractions” (i.e. next week’s post topics). I will only publish on Sunday if there is something earth-shattering (like Halloween) to report.
Social Media Dilemma
Finally, while nearly everyone agrees that Facebook is evil, it appears to be a necessary evil. So Denise will continue to share posts via her Facebook feed. And, if you are so inclined, please do the same or share via email with a friend. As you can see, both these methods are important to continuing to grow the community.
So there you have it…perhaps my last Sunday post.
Next Week: drug prices in Portugal, and a house design update.
Thanks for your survey report. While I could not contribute to subject suggestions, I have to say it’s because you do such a great job of covering everything!
Bom dia senorhas, our clocks fell back this morning. Coffee at 6:15 am is always good, except it was 5:15 am. Arrrgggg. Not sure if I ever took survey, just having gotten home a week ago. Results are probably how I would have voted. As a topic and a series for future, future posts, you and Denis should do the equivalent our the Route 66 in Portugal. The route takes you through the center part of Portugal and is quite beautiful, filled with history and incredible little towns from what I have read. Bom dia to Onyx.
