Good story! I, too, zeroed in on VRSA after watching Veronica’s bike ride through the pines to the beach. I like the idea that tourists don’t pour into the town to use the beach….not a lot of touristy hotels, but everything is there. I’m now looking forward to that bike ride up to the castle….thx, Nancy!
I loved this one and funny thing is, I almost rented an amazing apartment in that Monte Gordo area, sight unseen. I later decided it was a bit too remote for me with no car, so ended up in Olhão instead.
Just another day in Portugal is a wonderful happy read Nancy. Those lovely days of exploration, discovery and meeting the “knife sharpener”. Says it all - Eu amo Portugal 🇵🇹
As mentioned we found his bike parked in VRSA’s town square a few days later…so I suspect in 11 months or so we will start keeping an eye out. These aren’t big cities.
Great post! I think I would love Sundays in Portugal….
Please come and enjoy a few with us…btw no snow
How is the Reno coming along??
Stay tuned for an update...

Another "extraordinary" piece ... focusing, ironically, on the mundane. We do love Portugal!

What an interesting knife sharpening setup! I love this story. Will you be able to find him in the future?
