Nancy, you pretty much nailed what our Foz do Arelho town is like. The moment we arrived in this small little town Juliana commented how it looked like Carmel, California growing up. The water views, rolling hills, fog, beaches with very few people on them and the lushness of the vegetation surrounding the Silver Coast. It is impossible to have a view price wise that we ended up with as property prices In Monterey and Carmel are multi-millions. You’ll always have a second home when we get our D-7 approved.

Love your footnotes. From someone who reads all the museum plaques. ;-)

Nancy, you have described Foz do Arelho in very real and touching words.

This is exactly what we felt when we arrived here a year ago.

We have found our little paradise and we try to transfer our emotions to all those who wish to visit this beautiful place.

Thank you so much.

We love Foz too. Good to know about the golf courses. Now that I'm retired, I hope to pick up the game again assuming my back allows.

That kitchen is beautiful! I especially like the “leg warmers...or maybe they are slippers?” on the barstools!

I’m a footnote reader too. Very nice post today. Informative (thanks to those footnotes) and sounds fun.

What a fun read today! Thanks for your honesty about that marine layer fog--you can't imagine how many people deny this when I mention it on Americans & Friends in Portugal comments! And you have made me want to visit Foz just to stay at the B&B. I want that breakfast and some Sam time. Thanks for your story.

I will do this, then. We share these types of posts on Sunday Funday, and yours are always perfect for that day!

RE: chauvinism in Europe vs US; you may need to recalibrate your expectations as the origins of the sport required having balls to play in the first place.
