Nancy & Denise are offering all of us an exceptional opportunity to learn this addicting sport. Very few places, anywhere, allow you to show up, pay €5 and learn/play for free with two exceptional teachers! Can’t wait until we can add more courts and days in the week.

Not only is the two hour session great exercise, it is one of the few sports where you can show up, learn, and play a game on Day# 1!😎

Portugal is lucky to have you as immigrants. I am so impressed of what you have accomplished in less than 6 months. It is exciting for the sport as it is growing worldwide and can hardly wait to see it develop over the next few years. Congratulations on a superb job.

That is awesome! I love Pickleball too. I am so happy to hear that you are making headway. I will be headed to Setúbal in the early spring. I'd be happy to bring some supplies for you. And of course, I'd love to play. Down here in Florida we live for Pickleball.

Thanks for the offer but we hope to have everything here by then. Your closest pickleball in PT is Oeiras.

You two are just amazing! First you move to a new country and new city and then you bring this sport to the Algarve and keep it going even when it was slow. If you build it...it really shows that when you have a passion and a commitment that anything is possible. Your steady growth due to your consistency and hard work has really paid off. I think we counted 22 yesterday and a few more wanted to come but things came up. We all appreciate your dedication and are enjoying the fruits of your labor.

You're a great example of how you can add to the community when you arrive (even with a large building project and some travel too). Hopefully you will inspire others to bring their passion here and put in some hard work and consistency to see how they can make a difference.

I have to say thank you for including me (I was afraid to try it with all the noise on injuries) but once I did I was addicted. I've even met more of the YouTube community who moved here from watching videos abroad (keeps me going on my passion as well). We also have to say thank you so much for all the coaching. Denise and Nancy are certified teachers in Pickleball and we get free coaching from them included in the 5 euro donation to play. Many times they don't even get to play as they are busy helping teach players or are organizing who goes to which courts to play. It's really a dedication of love and service and now our team is looking forward to a fun trip up north to play against another group in Portugal. It's so wonderful to have a social and active sport set on a regular time schedule for active expats (and locals as well). ok, now I'm rambling but did you see the part of the article where Nancy and Denise are getting donations for the school? They've been arranging to bring the sport to the children in town when school begins again. They've even got donations. We just need to get them here from the states. We'd like to arrange more donations of old padels from those of you in the states who have your used ones just sitting around in the garage but please reach out to them if you can bring them over here (customs when things are shipped is tricky) so carrying them in your bag is the easiest. A big cheers and thank you to these industrious expats who are making things better abroad (and yes, even the locals are joining in).

Congratulations to you and Denise for powering on when it looked like there was no hope. Pickleball must be addictive. I hear it is all the rage in the US and growing like wild fire. If I had any eye/hand coordination I'd give it a go.

What an accomplishment! Congrats! Love that the sport is taking off there. I started playing about 3 months ago and absolutely love it. It’s a great way to meet new people and get some good exercise. Unfortunately I overdid it by playing 4-5 days a week and am now having issues with pickle elbow so I am resting it for a week and will see what happens.

Elbow problems are typically caused by holding the paddle too tight. Once you have iced and rested it maintain a looser grip (a 3 on a scale of 1-10). Boa sorte!

As a beginner, I think I have been gripping too tightly and have been working on hitting with a looser grip. It's easier to do now that my elbow is sore cause I get a 'reminder' when I am holding too tightly. Thanks!

Well done with your perseverance ! I would really like to learn how to play this game. I have been out of action too long. . . Tomorrow I go for a hip replacement, so it will be a few months before I can join you. I used to be very sporty so can't wait to get active again!

Our friend Jeff had a hip replacement (anterior approach) and was dinking after 6 weeks and played in a National tournament after 3 months. We look forward to meeting you!
