Such a great story! So happy you found one another. We’re big believers in rescuing—we have two great fur babies ...Shih Tzu’s. Love hearing about all your adventures!

Hi . Onix is gorgeous💕 we are waiting on our D7s and have a pet shipping company for our cats but my 2 dogs are co-dependent and trying figure out best way to get them there with least amount of stress for them. How was Tap Portugal for Onix? Would you recommend?

Onix was just a bit large for the cabin, so she was below. I believe the plane we were on had the ability to bring 4 crates. They allowed her to stay with us until 2 hours before flight time. We confirmed with cabin staff that the pilot knew dogs were on board and the area was heated. This was the first time she flew and she was less nervous than I was. All went well.

One more thing...assuming you are flying to Lisbon...You will see in my 30Jan post entitled "Lisbon We've Arrived" a photo of the dog where you are supposed to collect your animal and our personal experience finding her in the Lost & Found hallway. Try to pack a good box cutter, obviously, you can't take it on the plane, that you can get easily get access to. In addition to the zip tie that I had placed on the crate dog, there was an industrial-strength one installed by the airlines. Also, bring along your patience just in case you happen to get the same vet as we did.

And just wondering, why are you going to the expense of using a pet hauling company for your cats. Can't you take them on board with you and pay to have the dogs below?

Hi I have 4 cats which would require 4 humans to take one each on a flight and that was the original plan but due to covid fears and my friends/family work schedule, too much drama trying to find ppl for free trips to Portugal, so opted for the pet shipping. I’m still trying to get my dogs as ESA on Air France because they seem be only ones accepting ESA still. As for the vet, was there anything other than the USDA stamp and health certificates you were asked for? Sorry for all the questions . We owe you a drink when we get there!

If you haven't already, read the post dated Jan 29 "Final Preparations" it explains our near disaster with the vet. The only paperwork is the USDA paperwork with the raised stamp. That and 40 Euros per pet is what is required. Once you get into PT you are to register your pet and get an EU "passport" for each pet within the first 30 days. All will be fine...many pets relocate to Europe every year. Good luck.
