Absolutely fascinating to learn about the tumultuous history of Portugal. The Carnation Revolution touches on so many issues happening around the world today: the influx of people to a different country and the impact that creates on housing, the economy and public services; the vacuum that often is created when one country pulls out of another, leading to civil unrest; how the lack of education has an effect on residents; the benefits of participating in multi-national trade agreements (EU); as well as national identity and political controversy. Portugal has had it all and with a relatively short period. Just watched a Netflix movie called Fatima that takes place in Portugal during World War I, mostly because you two ladies have peaked my interest about your new home. I’ve also found a very good red blend wine from Portugal - it’s not only very good but I understand winemaking in Europe does not allowed all the fillers and additives allowed here in the U.S. Maybe fodder a future blogpost?
