I enjoy the variety of your posts that tell the stories of your accumulated experiences lived on a daily basis. Surely some topics strike a chord with more interest than others, however I personally enjoy and learn something from each post. This said I would not change anything or perhaps I lack imagination. 😊
Nancy, I have read and enjoyed your posts for more than a year now. I will definitely recommend. A friend of mine, and her boyfriend, are flying in to VRSA this month, for about six weeks. They are going to be looking for a “fixer-upper” to purchase. I cringed when I read that. I need to have Beth read all of the adventures and FUN that you have been having while trying to get your home built!
Please ask them to contact me when they are in VRSA...I love meeting nuts, I mean adventurous souls like us! Please email me and I will provide my WhatsApp # so they can easily contact me.
Congratulations on your 2-year anniversary! And thank you for sharing your experiences. I laughed out loud at the image in my head of dogs learning to pick up their poop and put the bag in the bin..."I have no thumbs mom, tying the knot in the bag is tough!!"
But on a serious note, the owners who allow their dogs to run off leash are a public hazard in other ways also. My small dog and I were attacked a few months ago by an off leash dog. My dog has recovered after 2 surgeries, but we both have visible scars and emotional trauma that will take longer to heal.
My husband and I are flying into Lisbon last week in February, then driving to Via Real de Santo Antonio where we hope to explore its real-life likelihoods for becoming our home in Portugal, likely within the next 18 months. We've been to Portugal as tourist, but this will be our first venture at exploring our new lives in Portugal.
Interesting about the dog poop, it occurs here in Coimbra, but rarely. Like I can count the number of times I have seen it on a side walk on one hand. And that’s in 18 months as a non-car owner/cyclist who walks most everywhere. Stray dogs? About a dozen seen; puzzling?
Survey completed! Thank you! I’m enjoying your writing. In your timeline when did you get your D7? Was it that December or after you moved to Portugal?
It was Dec 2020, Covid and no vaccines. I don’t believe we would have been admitted withou a Visa. But regardless … we completed the Visa process before ever visiting Portugal.
Sorry this is a bit off topic, but at one point you recommended Martin Page’s “The First Global Village.” I enjoyed reading this history of Portugal written by a journalist rather than by a historian (no offense to the historians out there). It had only a few chapters about 20th century Portugal - ending the monarchy and surviving Salazar. Have you or your readers any recommendations for this era?
Happy NewYear to you and Denise!

So sorry to hear about what happened to your pooch. Yes, we had a small altercation when living in Cascais and Onix recovered before I did.

Bruce, please let us know when you are in town.

Hi Nancy,
Congrats on your 2 years of blogging.

Thanks, Bob
Sorry I am not aware of any books that focus on more current events. Great question…perhaps a reader has such advice.
