Being Portuguese, I am flattered to read that you are enjoying Portugal with the defects, but so much positive... I have traveled almost everywhere and even lived in America for some time, but where I like to live is here. I think we are different. We are calm, patient, we are welcoming with everybody. We are shy to start with but we open up very easily.
I didn't realize how many things we have in common....lack of patience, dislike of messy, crowded spaces, love of fresh flowers! You make Portugal sound like the perfect place (and I'm sure it is). Careful...you will have all your followers and more moving there and then it will be overcrowded!! However, one point I may have to disagree on.....perhaps your new-found patience is an age thing. I have gained so much more patience the older I get!!!! Hahaha!! Keep up the wonderful posts!!!
What a wonderful, thoughtful post! I truly enjoyed it. I think I need to seriously consider retiring in Portugal. Well, get my wife to seriously consider it. I’ve been sold on leaving here since 2015
Human nature - we seem to have a great capacity to adjust. And how lovely to adjust to being more patient, slowing down and enjoying life more!
With what’s going on in the states (horrible mass shootings, voter suppression, the big lie, etc) it’s becoming more and more tempting to head out of here - those are not things I ever want to “adjust to.”
This is my favourite post so far. We are all able to change and find a new rhythm to our lives... but we have to embrace the opportunity to do so. You and Denise have done just that. Congrats.
An attack on the Capitol that the GOP did not considered worthy of investigation. Most republicans believing the presidential election was stolen. A former “President” continuing to spread falsehoods. Sham voting “audits” here in Arizona (and soon other places). Multiple states enacting voting laws blatantly designed to suppress minority voting.

Great posting. Reminds me of times in France going to outdoor markets.
And yes, here in the U.S. it’s definitely ‘frog in the pot’ time. Very sad and scary.

Great read my friend. There are many things I can’t get use to in my country while you are getting use those in Portugal.
Another great read thanks. Love the flowers 🌺

It is frightening what is happening here. Hate is everywhere. Everyone has a gun. Spray Frump with agent orange.
Incessant mass shootings.

Millions of people unwilling to get vaccinated.
How did we get here?
I wish I knew, it is heartbreaking…
Great post. I observed this past week that the American seems to be at half mast more often than not anymore, due to all the mass shootings.
Michelle, I was reading something online and saw an American flag at half-mast. It is very sad.
