We love flea markets! Our favorite (at least in the Alentejo) is the Saturday open air market in Estremoz ... not far from Evora. Literally hundreds of vendors selling memories and memorabilia, antiques, vintage stuff, close-outs and whatever ...
I was thinking about you two yesterday when I passed a furniture store. My question is, as you find things where will you store them? I love Gosto. I say go for that fuselage.
"… saying that as a culture moves out of poverty the tendency is to want new. That is is only after many years of prosperity that people long for the vintage, the antique, etc…I think he is right!)" Perfectly said!
I have seen this type of behavior in many countries and people... may be there is some research on that hypothesis somewhere. What I have also seen is that when "others" with certain status (people that are admired) value those objects one is tossing away, the locals start to value it and then it becomes a wanted item.
Such a fun post! Looking closely at the photos, I couldn’t help noticing what appears to be a fortress up on the hillside in the background of the photo of people eating. Do you have any idea what that structure is?
