First Time in Lisbon

It Rained

We traveled by train into Lisbon on Wednesday. We had signed up for a free walking tour through Guruwalk but received a cancelation notice in route. We made the best of it, however, spending a lovely day walking to no particular place with a new friend.

Perhaps the most striking aspect of moving to a new country during a pandemic is the lack of tourists. Like our trip to Belém, we found major tourist attractions, for the most part, deserted. While the weather forecast was for rain, we were able to remain dry most of the day while walking (and shopping).

A statue of King José I sits in the middle of the square. When the statue was unveiled in 1775 the party lasted three days.
