How interesting and festive! Love it. I will be looking for a place a bit away from the town square then… 🤣

Funny, when I read 1774 and 1775, I couldn’t help thinking how busy America was at the time leading up to 1776! As an American I’ve been pretty myopic about world history - and now with Portugal as my home I love your history lessons!

Noise?! We live in old town Lagos. We just ordered new windows (replacing the 48 year old ones) with an EXTRA upgrade in sound reduction!

Looking forward to experiencing more of VRSA without the extra hullabaloo (even though it was fun to see), as the only times we were there were the first 2 weeks of October! Mary and I had a great time chatting with you, if you and Denise ever find yourselves in Portland, let us know!

Noisy! I live a couple of miles up the river from you on the Spanish side of the border...and I could hear the music. And remember, we’re an hour ahead, so your 1am is 2 to me! Still, I do love it, just wouldn’t want to live next to it! Great post Nancy 👍

Alan, I consider we have returned the “favor” as there was something going on in Ayamonte within the last month that included music and canon fire at 6 am your time, 5 am ours!

Please, please, please correct: It is FEIRA, not Feria (it would be correct... in Spanish).

No problem. Just want to help. (The right spelling is in the video's title.)

And... you corrected it! Yey! Thank you!

By the way, I love your articles. A lot. It is wonderful for us, portuguese, to "see" our "things" from different points of view and cultural experiences.

It's not so bad. I have an apartment along one of the streets leading to the square and the market and fair don't bother us. The real noise comes from the Spanish visitors walking back to their cars and talking very loudly. Rest of the year is pretty peaceful

Hi. I love all your posts. My husband and I are coming for a month in January and will try to get an idea of where to live the first year. We will rent. Just wondering if you have any insight on health insurance for two old folks, 77 snd 75. We would need it to get the d7 and until our residency visa is approved. Thanks for any help you can offer. Liz

Thank you. Maximum age is 70. Can't believe we might not be able to make this move due to our age. We are healthy, young at heart, people. Drat!!!!
