Diane the bike has worked flawlessly and we can recommend. I really like how upright you sit when riding. The one caveat I would put to that is the weight. Since they are 70 lbs (in part due to very wide tires) they can at time be unwieldy. So if you don't need the really wide tires, I would look at one of the other RAD stepthru bikes. Also if you aren't strong, consider spending more $ and buying another brand.
I am wondering for those who have moved to Portugal from the US if they have had any issues with taking their electric bikes? I have read that there is an issue with shipping the battery.
Steve and I (you know from Desert Falls pickleball) are Townie folk, had 21-speed Townies for years that we loved, so for e-bikes in 9/2019 we went with Townie Go's and both love them, me with the 8D (center drive) and Steve the 7D (hub drive). I believe they're assembled in Europe vs Asia so it seems you should be able to find them somewhere over there? People love their Rad Bikes but I hear their components are not the quality of the Townies, if that makes a difference for everyday use. Happy Trails! I included notes for e-bikes in my next edition of enCYCLEpedia Southern California, due out in May.
I Rich, of course we remember you. I did try to buy a Townie Go here but could not find someone to send to Portugal. I Trek Townie folk sent me to a Spanish shop...but though they dealt with other Treks were unwilling to coordinate the Go purchase.
I have a Tern Vektron, which is a folding electric bike, with over 2000 miles on it. It’s solid and no issues with the numerous steep canyons here in San Diego. Enjoy the Rad, maybe you can provide updates on the new bike as you put miles on it. I would be interested in seeing how the Rad does over time. It’s truly a great price. Enjoy!
The perfect kind of parent! Can't wait to see Onix on the bike with the wind flowing through her fur. Don't forget to get goggles for her eyes you don't want any foreign object to hit her.
Hi Nancy, I would love a "one year on" retrospective on your choice of a Rad ebike? Because of your blog, I've been looking into getting one. Thanks!

Is it sold anywhere in Europe? My fantasy -- take a train there and ride it back on the classic river routes, then train the rest.
My friend who owns one is in the UK. Perhaps in the Netherlands...the land of bicycles.
Just wondering, will you need to have good bike locks when you leave them somewhere? I know you said that Portugal has a low crime rate.
Yes, we will be investing in substantial bike locks.

Will do.
i don't see a spot for Onix, keeping looking!
There is a pet carrier accessory...what kind of parent do you think I am?
