Nancy, what a climax to your 2 week Axe Mystery novel. On Friday can you mention what weather is like especially in July. Any breezes, dry. I continue to follow VRSA and it does have a great sense of community with town square, shops and restaurants. Seville is only 1 1/2 hours away. Did I hear Costco calling! Ha. Does your lease expire in 2022 or 2023? Thanks for sharing. Look forward to Friday’s update.
Yes cases are increasing around the world. However in Portugal there is far less vaccine hesitancy issues…more just getting to everyone. Not sure but I think now open to 30+. Country is doing a pretty good job of catching up on slow rollout caused by limited vaccine supply.
Excellent article. I've seen so many expats say that the Algarve is unlivable in the summer months - too hot, dry, too many people, too much traffic, too expensive - I'm curious to see your take on it.
Too hot is relative, keep in mind we lived in the CA desert and Florida before that. Not as hot as either of those. Too many people...we are still in Covid times, we really don't know how crowded it gets. Too expensive, again relative. Compared to Cascais the restaurants are 30% less and housing is affordable.
Good point. My wife has lived in Texas her entire life. I lived in eastern WA state for almost 30 years before moving to Texas. She wants to retire to someplace with a cooler summer, thank God!! I thought I was going to die my first summer here! However, in my youth I lived in the CA desert so I think I know what you mean.
As for expensive - again, relative as you said. If you're trying to live only on Social Security, then I suppose it would be tough anywhere. We obviously need to make a trip to Portugal next year.
Great installment to your blog. The suspense is killing me!
Portugal has taught me patience...

I'm very excited for you two--yeah, I get my kicks vicariously. Looking forward to your next installment. :)
Thanks Scott. Hopefully the world will get this virus "under control soon" and you will be able to join us.
Speaking of which, cases are surging here amongst the unvaccinated (97%). Is it the same in Portugal?

Sorry, by "here" I mean in the USA.
Thanks Nancy, The huge number of Americans unwilling to get vaccinated is so disheartening and, at the same time, infuriating.
