Actually, a US President can serve more than 8 years. Think Truman. He finished the term of FDR and was elected for two terms of 4 years each. A President can be elected for only 2 terms. Just saying……

Very interesting post! And you aren’t the only one who slept through what we called “government class” 😬 You’ve reminded me of that pledge we used to have to take every morning in elementary school -

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands…”

I don’t know that it was ever explained to us students what exactly “republic” meant. Or maybe I was sleeping…
