I am happy for you in that you have seized the opportunity to live other than America and to use your immense curiosity to learn and convey what you are learning to us. Thanks!

You just reminded me that my older sister still lives like the Cleavers. One son lives next door and the other three kids live nearby - all within 20 minutes. The kids and grandkids always visit. She has no Internet - uses a cell phone for emergency purposes only - still cans and freezes her fruits and vegetables. Her washing machine is in the root cellar. There is central heating, but she also has a wood stove. There is a window air conditioner in the master bedroom. Before COVID her home was the center of most family activity: birthdays, holiday dinners and picnics, any occasion that called for a family gathering. She has a lot fewer "things" than I do - has never traveled outside the country. But she is the type of person who will make lemon merengue pie when faced with an abundance of lemons.

Nancy,

Many of the laws in Portugal are similar in most of Europe.

Remember here the family and then religion afterwards money.. Europe is not a capitalist place..

You do want know about history .. might want to read about the knights templar (free mansory) and how they help to create Portugal.. and today's national soccer club symbol shows it!

thx

Thanks James. Your right! Not only do I not know enough American history, I lack all understanding of European history. Thanks for the advice.
