Would be awesome to read a follow up perhaps on how climate change will affect Portugal itself. I read somewhere that Portugal will be one of the most affected countries in Europe apparently.
Will Lisbon be eventually submerged? Will there be a water crisis, increased wildfires, dust-ridden desertification, and so on? You may have heard about the water crisis in Mexico to use a current example. I wonder if that's in Portugal's future.
Architectural salvage is one of my favorite things!! Cant wait to read about it. Which brings to mind "thrifting", or shopping at thrift stores, or buying Used Furniture / tools / sporting goods / home goods / clothing....... As part of the Re-use / Re-purpose / Re-cycle discussion I hope we can all have......is there much of that there? An integral part of the Eliminate Waste inverted triangle is to stop buying new, to give another life to a still perfectly good ___________ fill in the blank. I am very interested in reading more on this and all of your topics. Thank you for sharing. And yes, I think Immigration is one of Portugal's biggest challenges, but you said Emigration.....so I wait with baited breath.....
Nearly every town has "flea markets" which sell antiques, used furniture, used tools, etc. The one in Castro Marim, just up the street, is opening again for the first time since Covid tomorrow. Denise and I have put this on our calendar for after golf!

This information makes me feel good about Portugal’s approach to climate change and not importing oil and gas from Russia.
I’m wondering where and how they produce most of their energy.
And as far as trains. I understand that Portugal has less access to trains to travel to other countries.
