Just think of the personal relationships you are developing with the bank employees! What other business can you return to often, talk to the same people, and develop relationships. The fact that they speak English should be a bonus. In 1990, there was maybe 1 person who spoke english well enough and if you asked for that person the next time you were there, opps..at lunch, at break, off today. What would you have done if nobody at the bank spoke English?

In US during beginning of COViD, the banks closed and thereafter until vaccines were readily available, you had to make an appt to do anything at the bank! The bank people were inside but it was all by appt only.

Looking forward to the "wonderful" banking parts you are going to provide us. BTW, I recall that getting a building permit and other necessary docs in Philadelphia was so tedious and time consuming that builders typically hired an "expediter." The "expeditier" would do all the leg work and you'd have your docs in no time. Are there people in Portugal who perform these services for a fee? Seems like it would be worth the price - unless you are just so bored that you don't mind extra paperwork and trips to the bank. But maybe YOU can start a new business. Take notes.

Typical that, everything is super chillaxing in Portugal which means also things that shouldn’t be! There’s also forms for everything unfortunately! Xx

Ah yes, we had a similar experience opening an account in Copenhagen. After the US, it felt like "Please provide every legal document you've touched or signed in the last two decades. Ok, now tell us how much money you're going to make. Now tell us how you're going to spend that money. Ok, we'll let you know if we feel like opening an account sometime in the next month."

You girls have more determination than anyone I have known. With ALL the paperwork and regulations most would give up.

It was all processed timely according to the local system...slow for Americans I understand but timely in Portugal.
