Next time, you'll need to do some levada walks and visit the north coast. Glad you had a good time.

Madeira is definitely on my list of places to visit! It's a botanist's dream!

Madeira is a beautiful island. So much to see. Next time you go, there are two golf courses, if you get a chance, play them both. Beautiful views.

That toboggan ride is the best thing I've seen in a long time. For me it would be worth whatever it cost to go to Madeira. The view from the Savoy Palace is fantastic. I'm sure I would have loved the bubbly as well.

Looks like you had a wonderful time. Funchal is kind of old world sophistication, with a touch of glam and quaint - all at the same time. It’s an interesting mix. Look forward to adventures to follow…

How do the woven sleds go back up? Also, were there seatbelts? 😵‍💫 I would probably get arrested for "disturbing the peace" with my screams. 😅. That said, super exciting! Thank you for sharing!

They collect the sleds in a large truck parked near the end of the run and drive them up the hill. No seatbelts

Nancy, Nancy, Nancy....you've done it again. Entertained us, informed us, encouraged and inspired us. Another exceptional writing that ranged between my concerns for the US and my interest.in visiting Madeira. Thank you, wonderful lady.
