Ah, yes! I grew up in New Jersey so I instinctively knew how to navigate a traffic circle. They became obsolete over the years as traffic increased well beyond circle efficiency. Then I moved to South Carolina where they reinvented circles. Here on my island there are not many circles - the island is only 12 miles long. But one main circle at the very popular and tourist-concentrated south end of the island is a real bugaboo. I can't tell you how many times the town has reconfigured that circle. Alas, it is still a circle and confounds the unwary. Those of us who are full time residents avoid it at all costs - cutting through parking lots or taking a longer route around. Ah, yes. Good old Jersey. I know the drill - but not everyone does.

That little video at the top with the two tiny cars parking in one spot is amazing. Is that played in real time? I suspect that it has to be speeded up. If not, OMG!!!

The trouble with circles in south Jersey is that some folks had the impression that coming from a major route gives you the right-of-way; wrong! If everyone would just slow down a tad, and keep moving, it works great! But alas, we lost the Marlton circle, and the worst thing is that we lost Olga's Diner as a consequence. They must have had at least 10,000 items on their menu; not a safe space for indecisive people. I also moved to SC; it's a tax thing.

Olga's dinner. I have two recollections: 1. it is where my family would stop on the way to Cape May to fish with my father one day each summer, and 2. I used to have lunch there when S. Jersey was my sales territory. One day a group of high schoolers (obviously cutting class) jumped into the booth behind me. I overhead one of the kids say, "Did you know Paul McCartney was in a group before Wings?" Not sure why I didn't kill that kid.

Just an FYI, to make you feel better. They rebuilt Olga's Diner on the other side of the circle(I went past it last week). What I don't know is if it is under different ownership. I only ate there once, Thanksgiving morning with Harvey and Julie(WMGK) back in the 90's or 80's, a full turkey dinner for breakfast. Hey, you've got to try everything once. The circle is still gone, but they have added others just to keep NJ residents happy.
