I admit it. I am a Barry Manilow fan. And it isn’t because he lives in Palm Springs and mingles with the locals. Okay, some of his lyrics are “cheesy” … but once you get one in your head it is hard to get it out.
We Made It
So I am sorry if for the rest of the day you are hearing “Looks Like We Made It” in your head. But it seemed fitting. After a small, cold, damp apartment that reminded us of camping; and a cool, modern, one-bedroom Airbnb in central Cascais, we have moved into our real apartment just around the corner. Since so many of you have emailed me, let me give you a tour.
The apartment is a T3 (i.e. 3 bedrooms) with 2 casas de banho (2 bathrooms). It was gut renovated by a couple that currently lives in Chicago (Denise’s hometown) but intends to return to Portugal in a few years.
While the place has the charm of crown molding, clotheslines suspended outside of the windown in guest room #2, and original doors throughout, it has a distinctively modern feel. This may be part of what attracted us to it.
In addition, the owners did not skimp on the bling.
But I have left the best till last. For the homeowner that can’t have enough gadgets, a mobile phone charging device, with a hidden electrical outlet and USB port. Just set your phone on top and it starts charging.
You may recall that I was upset because this place didn’t have a view of the water. Turns out, though it is 8 blocks away, you can see the beach from our guest room. Yep, it looks like we made it.
this is really nice. Did this come furnished? My wife and I will be looking in Cascais T2 or T3 preferably 2 bathrooms and will need a furnished apt/house that accepts dogs(2 small). Seems daunting and I'm a little nervous about finding place. We hope we can find something similar to yours.
Congratulations. You got a very nice place. Hope to see you soon here in Porto.
