While in Lisbon we took the train to meet “our Cascais tribe” for dinner. While there we enjoyed the Cascais holiday lights.
When you stand inside the structure above, the lights change color and move about you. It is very much like being inside a kaleidoscope.
Of course, the pedestrian streets are decorated as well.
While we had a lovely Thai dinner in Cascais, we wanted to share a must-see/must-eat place in Lisbon. We learned about Palácio Chiado from our friends Mike and Mary. They write about their experience there here. While the food and wine were terrific and the service superb, I enjoyed the surroundings most. Next time you are in Lisbon, treat yourself!
Be prepared to climb some stairs to get there. Unfortunately, there is no elevator to take you to the restaurant.
I asked the waiter if the paintings were original. “Sadly, no” he replied. “These were painted after the 1755 earthquake.”
The modern copper fixtures above the bar, complement the opulent ceiling and walls. We chatted with the lovely bartender for a few moments before we left.
Thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays from the deep freeze in the US. Next Christmas ..........
Wonderful photos and writing Nancy! Merry Christmas!
